Engineering dean candidates to interview in April

Four candidates for dean of the College of Engineering will visit campus in
April. The dean candidates, announced March 23, include:
- Timothy Anderson, associate dean of research and graduate programs,
College of Engineering; and professor of chemical engineering, University of
Florida, Gainesville
- Prith Banerjee, department chair and Walter P. Murphy Professor,
electrical and computer engineering, Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill.
- Mark Kushner, Founder Professor of engineering at the University of
Illinois, Urbana-Champaign
- Stella Pang, associate dean for graduate education, College of
Engineering; and professor, department of electrical engineering and
computer science, Solid State Electronics Laboratory, University of
Michigan, Ann Arbor.
An open forum with each of the candidates will be from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in
the Howe Hall auditorium on the first day of their visits. A reception will
follow in the Howe Hall atrium. Following is the schedule for the forums:
- Anderson, April 6
- Kushner, April 8
- Pang, April 12
- Banerjee, April 14
In addition, an hour-long open discussion on diversity will be held on the
second day of each candidate's visit in 114 Marston. Those times are:
- Anderson, April 7, 2 p.m.
- Kushner, April 9, 1:30 p.m.
- Pang, April 13, 2 p.m.
- Banerjee, April 15, 1:30 p.m.
The successful candidate will succeed James Melsa, who will retire at the
end of the academic year.
