Honors
Society fellows
John Hill and Michael Tringides, professors of physics and astronomy,
recently were elected fellows of the American Physical Society, an honor
granted to no more than one-half of 1 percent of the current society
membership.
Festschrift honor
A festschrift honoring David Gradwohl, professor emeritus of anthropology,
has been published by the Journal of the Iowa Archaeological Society.
This 17-essay volume is entitled Always on the Edge (in the
Prairie-Plains): Essays in Honor of David Mayer Gradwohl.
Theater award
Robert Sunderman, assistant professor of music and resident scenic designer
for ISU Theatre, received an award of merit for his scenic design of the
play Proof at the Region V competition of the Kennedy Center American
College Theatre Festival. The festival includes colleges and universities
from eight midwestern states.
Best paper
Zhengdao Wang, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering,
has received the Best Paper award for 2003 from the Signal Processing
Society for a paper he co-authored. The paper, Wireless Multicarrier
Communications: Where Fourier Meets Shannon, appeared in Signal
Processing magazine.
