Black History Month
Iowa State will celebrate Black History Month with a talk by author Ishmael
Reed and a performance by comedian Mark Reedy.
Reed, who has been a finalist for a Pulitzer Prize, will discuss "The Poet
as Prophet and Oracle" at 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, in the MU Sun Room. His
novels, Mumbo Jumbo and The Last Days of Louisiana Red, were
nominated for the National Book Award.
On Friday, Feb. 20, Reedy will bring his act to the MU Great Hall. He has
performed on MTV, Showtime and HBO, and opened for Marsha Warfield, Redd
Foxx and Patty Labelle. His performance will start at 8 p.m.
Both events are free.
