Honors
ACS awards
Three chemistry faculty have received awards from the American Chemical
Society.
- Distinguished professor James Espenson received the Award for
Distinguished Service in the Advancement of Inorganic Chemistry, for
significant service and outstanding research.
- Associate professor Mei Hong received the Award in Pure chemistry,
which recognizes fundamental research in pure chemistry by young
professionals.
- University professor Richard Larock received the Arthur C. Cope Senior
Scholar Award, which recognizes excellence in organic chemistry.
Chemistry award
Daniel Armstrong, the Caldwell Professor of chemistry, received the 2003
Chirality Medal from the Societa Chimica Italiana. Armstrong has invented
several ways to remove chiral impurities from drugs, making them safer and
more effective.
