Cats pussyfoots into town
The longest running hit in Broadway history, Cats, will come to Ames
Sept. 21-22.
Based on T.S. Eliot's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, and with a
score by Andrew Lloyd Webber, the ground-breaking musical has won seven Tony
Awards.
The story follows the exploits of a variety of feline friends who gather for
the Jellicle Ball. During the ball, one cat will be bestowed with a precious
extra life. Tensions begin to mount.
Cats was first shown on the London stage in May 1981. It opened to
rave reviews and went on to win a record-breaking number of awards
nationwide.
The show opened on Broadway in October 1982, and holds the unique position
of being the longest running musical in both the West End and Broadway
history.
The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. both nights in Stephens Auditorium. Tickets
range from $30 to $38.
