Travel reimbursement goes online this summer
Receiving reimbursement for work-related travel expenses just got easier. A
Web-based travel system, piloted on campus since February, should be fully
implemented by the controller's department by the end of the summer. With
it, travel reimbursement requests can be initiated, routed and approved
using a web browser.
Among highlights of the system:
- Built-in edit checks catch errors on the front end. The result is
better compliance with university travel policy, less paper and fewer
requests rejected because of errors.
- Employees receive a deposit directly into their bank account instead of
a paper check.
- A travel authorization system allows units to monitor travel requests.
The Web-based travel system is the result of a two-year study by a team of
college, departmental and controller's department staff.
