Davis named interim AIT head
James Davis, associate professor of computer engineering, was named interim
director of the Office of Academic Information Technologies (AIT), effective
July 1. He succeeds Dorothy Lewis, who announced in early June she would
leave AIT.
"Jim Davis is an outstanding member of our faculty, and his experience will
be valuable in the operation of AIT. I appreciate his willingness to assume
this responsibility," said President Gregory Geoffroy.
Davis joined the faculty in 1984, after receiving his doctoral degree in
computer science from Iowa State. He worked at AIT while in graduate school
and said he has a good understanding of the unit's work.
"I've been on both sides of this, as a developer of technologies and as a
consumer of AIT's services," he said.
