Meds questions answered
A free public forum on prescription drugs will be held from7 to 9 p.m.
Wednesday, April 23, in Benton Auditorium, Scheman. Medical directors from
Wellmark and Health Alliance and a pharmacist from Mary Greeley Medical
Center will answer questions. Questions may be sent in advance to Mark
Power, forum moderator, at
mpower@iastate.edu.
Golf league sign-up now
An ISU faculty/staff summer golf league begins on Tuesday, May 13, and runs
for 15 weeks at Veenker Memorial Golf Course. The league fee is $20;
register at the Veenker club-house by May 6. For more information, contact

The effects of Title IX
Two Iowa State staff members will discuss non-athletic aspects of Title IX
during a brown bag talk at noon Tuesday, April 8, in the Memorial Union Sun
Room. Kathryn Overberg, associate counsel, will discuss the impact of Title
IX for institutions receiving federal aid. Carla Espinoza, assistant vice
president for human resource services, will discuss the universitys record
of compliance with Title IX regulations. Bring your lunch.
Geoffroy on Talk of Iowa
President Gregory Geoffroy will be a guest on the Tuesday, April 8,
installment of Talk of Iowa. The live, call-in show airs weekdays
from 10 to 11 a.m. on WOI Radio (640 AM).
Room schedules on Web
Scheduling of general university classrooms is available on the Facilities
Planning and Management Web site. The site also provides detailed
information for 215 general university classrooms. The site is at

Lecture, reception scheduled
Anjan Bose, dean of the College of Engineering and Architecture at
Washington State University, will discuss security of power grids from 1 to
2:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, in 1140 Howe. A reception will be held from
3:30 to 5 p.m. Monday, April 14, in 2222 Coover.
Faculty research showcased
Engineering faculty will present their research during the 2003 Larson-Ruth
Symposium, 8 a.m.-5:20 p.m. Thursday, April 10, in the Howe Hall auditorium.

Schroeder visit April 22
Former U.S. Congresswoman Patricia Schroeder, 2003 Mary Louise Smith Chair
in Women and Politics, will be available to meet with faculty and staff from
2:15 to 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, in 302 Catt. At 7:30 p.m. that evening,
Schroeder will speak on The Road to the White House: Where Are The Women? in
Benton Auditorium, Scheman. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Resources, info on the war
A new Web site offers updates on war-related resources, information and
activities at Iowa State. The site is at

Check your labels
Homeland security concerns have prompted services such as UPS to tighten
packaging requirements. Faculty and staff who reuse packages that once
contained hazardous materials must remove any labels, signs or wording
(covering or crossing out words is not sufficient). Shippers who use
mislabeled packages could be fined. More information is at

Eaton Hall ceremony set
A ceremony to name the first residence suite building officially for Gordon
Eaton, Iowa States 12th president (1986-1990), will begin at 3:30 p.m.
Friday, April 11, in the Eaton Hall courtyard, Union Drive neighborhood.
Refreshments and building tours will be available beginning at 4 p.m.
Spring forward Sunday
Daylight-saving time begins at 2 a.m. Sunday, April 6. Remember to turn your
clocks ahead one hour before you turn in Saturday night.
Volunteers needed
More than 850 volunteers are needed for the annual Special Olympics Summer
Games, to be held May 22-24 at Iowa State. Shifts include the opening
ceremony Thursday evening, half-day blocks on Friday or a morning block on
Saturday. Applications, available at the Memorial Union front desk, the
Student Answer Center and the Lied Center, are due Friday, April 18. For
