Groundbreaking for multipurpose practice facility set for Oct. 12
A groundbreaking ceremony for the indoor multipurpose use and practice
facility will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12. The Johnny Majors Practice
Complex will be located west of the Jacobson Building.
Speakers will include President Gregory Geoffroy; Board of Regents, State of
Iowa, president Owen Newlin; athletic director Bruce Van De Velde; lead
donors Steve and Debbie Bergstrom; and football coach Dan McCarney.
The 92,000-square-foot building will be constructed over the existing
artificial turf practice field. The building will contain a regulation-size
football field for indoor practice, and a portable floor so it can be used
for university and community events.
Private gifts raised by the athletic department and the ISU Foundation will
pay for the building.
