Mentoring program begins
A new peer mentoring program, which begins this fall, will help P&S women
learn the ins and outs at Iowa State and begin developing a professional
network.
Coordinated through the women's center, the "Women's Ways: Mentoring Program
for Professional & Scientific Women" is aimed at women who have been at Iowa
State three years or less. However, those who have been at the university
longer may be considered for the program.
P&S women also are needed to serve as mentors. Mentors should understand the
current campus climate and have experience in a range of situations.
Mentors and mentees will be matched according to goals and desired outcomes
listed on the application forms. They will meet with each other at least two
hours a month and attend other workshops and events.
Applications are available from Penny Rice, women's center director, 4-4254.
Applications also will be available Sept. 27 online under announcements on
the Web site at
http://www.dso.iastate.edu/dept/mswc. Applications are due Oct. 16.
