Carillon festival premieres Star Bells
The campus will resonate with the sound of bells during the Iowa State
Carillon Festival, Oct. 4-6.
A highlight of the festival will be the premiere of Star Bells, a
commissioned work for carillon and orchestra by music professor Jeffrey
Prater. The piece will be performed during a family concert beginning at 2
p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, on central campus (rain location will be Tye Hall,
Music Building). The concert also will spotlight various Iowa State music
groups and student carillonneurs.
Iowa State's carillonneur, Tin-Shi Tam, will present a concert at 5 p.m.
Friday, Oct. 4, at the campanile.
On Saturday, a tour of the campanile will begin at 4 p.m.
Friday, October 4
- 5 p.m., Recital, Tin-Shi Tam, ISU carillonneur, Stanton Memorial
Carillon.
Saturday, October 5
- 1:30 p.m., Seminar, "Arranging and Composing for Carillon," John
Courter, Berea College, Kentucky, Tye Hall, Music.
- 3 p.m., Recital, John Courter, guest carillonneur, Stanton Memorial
Carillon.
- 4 p.m., Tour, campanile.
Sunday, October 6
- 2 p.m., Family concert, Carillon and Symphony Orchestra, central campus
(rain location Tye Hall, Music).
