Hill opts out of Business post
Ronald Hill, named the new dean of the College of Business on May 10,
informed the university May 23 that he had reversed his decision and would
not assume the dean's position.
Hill, a professor of business at the University of Portland, Ore., said his
change of mind was based on family considerations.
"We are extremely disappointed in Dr. Hill's decision," said Provost Rollin
Richmond. "He would have helped to lead the college in its increasingly
successful efforts to become one of the premier land-grant colleges of
business."
Hill was scheduled to begin his duties as dean on July 1.
Labh Hira, professor of accounting, has been serving as interim dean of the
College of Business. He will continue in that post as the search for a
permanent dean continues, Richmond said.
