Feel the force
No, one of George Lucas' mutant machines hasn't escaped from Episode II and
invaded campus. This rather strange-looking piece of machinery, found north
of the Communications Building, is a cement pump. Unlike cement trucks or
buckets, the pump can fit in narrow spaces and reach across 127 feet as it
pumps cement for construction needs. Owned by Caruth Concrete Pumping, Ames,
the equipment is being used on the Carver Co-Lab construction. Photo by
