Pay stubs to be eliminated in July

The pay stub that arrives in the mailboxes of some 11,868 ISU employees June 30 will be the last of its kind. University officials are dropping the paper version of the stub in favor of an online version.

While estimated budget savings of $34,000 annually is one reason for the change, officials cite a number of advantages to the online pay stub.

"The online version is more detailed and contains 18 months of payroll information," said Joan Thompson, university treasurer. "It's easily accessed from a Web browser. It's available earlier -- three days prior to payday. And it's more secure than the old stub, which had the employee's Social Security number and bank information printed on it."

Pay information has been available online for several months. Faculty and staff can view their pay information through the AccessPlus Web site at http://accessplus.iastate.edu. (Sign in and click "employee information.") A tutorial on using the online pay information also is available at http://www.iastate.edu/~hrs_info/main/es_tutorial/toc.html.
