INSIDE IOWA STATE
April 19, 2002
Announcements
Check online pay information
A new online tutorial (
http://www.iastate.edu/~hrs_info/main/es_tutorial/toc.html) walks you
through the process of signing onto AccessPlus and viewing your employee pay
information. The online earnings statement is more detailed than the paper
pay stub mailed to faculty and staff monthly, and online information is
available three days before payday. The online site provides an 18-month pay
history, year-to-date earnings and vacation and leave usage. To view pay
information online, sign onto AccessPlus (
http://accessplus.iastate.edu/) and click "employee
information."
Frederiksen Court dedicated
The former Hawthorn Court student neighborhood will be renamed and dedicated
for Charles Frederiksen (who led the residence department from 1967 to 1996)

Community Center. The university community is invited. Speakers include
President Gregory Geoffroy; vice president for business and finance Warren
Madden; ISU senior Lisa Ahrens; Ken Stoner, director of residence at the

Academic advisers honored
The University Academic Advising Committee has announced the recipients of
the 2001-02 Adviser of the Year Awards. Each college selects an adviser of
the year, and two university advisers of the year are selected by the
Provost Office (and honored in the convocation insert in this Inside). A
display honoring the advisers will be in the Memorial Union throughout June
and at this Web site:
http://www.iastate.edu/~registrar/adviser/homepage.htm.
College Advisers of the Year: Curtis Youngs, Agriculture; Rhonda Lummus,
Business; Howard Heemstra, Design; Carol Cordell, Education; Ted Millen,
Engineering; TBA, Family and Consumer Sciences; H. Bert Crawley, Liberal
Arts and Sciences; Donald Draper, Veterinary Medicine.
CyCash starts this summer
ISU will terminate the current cash stripe program on ISUCards July 31. Card
holders must use any remaining value on their cash stripes by that date. A
new online system (CyCash) for small dollar purchases on campus will replace
the Debitek cash stripe readers on cards. Card holders can keep their
existing cards. ISU Card officials said CyCash is more secure, convenient
and reliable than the Debitek system.
International reception set
The Annual International Reception, in honor of international students
graduating this spring and summer, will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday,
May 9, in the Memorial Union Sun Room. President Gregory Geoffroy will speak
and refreshments will be served. For more information and to RSVP, go to:
http://www.isualum.org/student_programs/scc/international.html.
