VR experts visiting campus April 7
Two Los Angeles-based experts on virtual reality and new media will speak in
Howe auditorium April 7.
Larry Tuch, a screenwriter and creative consultant, will speak on
storytelling in virtual environments at 7 p.m. Steve Berman, intellectual
property counsel and research engineer, will speak on perpetual discovery,
intellectual capital and industrial collaboration at 8 p.m.
Tuch and Berman are involved in "Ashes to Ashes/Dance Driving," a multimedia
memorial to Sept. 11 being developed at Iowa State. The memorial uses
technology at the Virtual Reality Applications Center.
Tuch has worked as a writer and interactive designer for Walt Disney
Imagineering and Paramount Television Group. His current projects include an
Internet game prototype for Paramount and an interactive simulation for the
Marine Science Institute at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Berman is associate director of strategic business alliances and convergence
technologies development for the University of California's system-wide
Digital Media Innovation Program.
