Health provider moves
Occupational Health Works, the university's health care provider for
work-related injuries and illnesses, has moved to the McFarland Clinic's
main building, 1215 Duff Ave. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. All injured
employees should receive their initial treatment at Occupational Health
Works.
Iowa State has revised its "First Report of Injury" form to comply with new
OSHA regulations. Employees are asked to use this revised form; call Risk
Management, 4-7083, to request a copy of the new form. A printable form also
is available online at
http://www.adp.iastate.edu/forms/other.html.
Energy savings at $1.2 million
With three billing months to go, Iowa State has saved $1,291,232 in energy
costs through the month of February. The energy savings goal is $1.5
million.
P&S Council election concludes March 29
P&S employees are urged to vote online, via AccessPlus, for representatives
to the P&S Council. The election runs through Friday, March 29. Paper
ballots also may be requested from Kevin Kane, 4-0526,
kkane@iastate.edu.
Forum highlights local food use on campus
Using local foods on campus is the subject of a forum from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Thursday, April 4, in the Joan Bice Underwood Tearoom, 23 MacKay. Nadeem
Siddiqui, director of an award-winning university dining service at Cornell
University, Ithaca, N.Y., will be the key presenter. Others will share
information about local food-buying projects at the University of Northern
Iowa and Iowa State's Scheman Building and Tearoom. For more information,

Occupational Medicine staff offers info on hearing April 24
Occupational Medicine staff will offer tips on protecting hearing and help
faculty and staff determine if they may have hearing loss on Wednesday,
April 24, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 24 has been designated International
Noise Awareness Day, a day to examine the harmful effects of noise on
hearing and health. Occupational Medicine staff will answer questions and
provide samples of hearing protection and informational brochures in G11
TASF.
Learn how to order online from University Book Store
The University Book Store will host a free workshop on ordering supplies
online from 10 to 11 a.m. April 16. Contact Amy DeLashmutt, 4-6055, for more
information.
P&S development day set
Former Fortune 500 executive James Autry will be a speaker during
Professional Development Day 2002, to be held Tuesday, April 9, at the
Gateway Center. Autry, an author, poet and consultant whose work has had
significant influence on leadership thinking, will discuss "Putting the
Spirit of Work to Work." The day also will include workshops on employee
wellness, grant writing, software programs, management practices, personal
finance, retirement and team building. More information is available online

Appointments
- Lisa Lorenzen, Iowa State's biotechnology industrial liaison, will
expand her duties to serve as the university's director of industry
relations. She will serve as a liaison between the university's research and
outreach activities, and industry in Iowa and beyond.
- Charlotte Bronson, professor of plant pathology and interim director of
the Center for Plant Responses to Environmental Stresses, to chair of the
department of plant pathology, for a three-year term beginning April 1.
- Carl Arbuckle is a new textbook buyer at University Book Store. He
succeeds Sue Terry, who recently retired.
