ISU photographer Bob Elbert shot the steel connector teaching aid erected on
the west side of Town Engineering. Installed about six months ago, it is
made of various connectors that are used in construction. The structure was
used for the first time during fall semester as a civil engineering
classroom aid; the beauty of it is that students can see a specific kind of
connector, rather than just a picture of it.
The steel was painted and donated by Paxton and Vierling Steel Co., Carter
Lake. It arrived on campus in pieces and student members of the American
Society of Civil Engineers helped assemble and erect the structure.
