ISU surpasses UW goal
Iowa State employees pledged $236,377 to the United Way of Story County this
fall -- 106 percent of the goal of $223,000, and a record amount at ISU. The
total includes contributions to the Story County Habitat for Humanity. This
year's pledges are 8.8 percent more than the university pledges last
year.
"We are very grateful to the many ISU volunteers and donors who have made
this successful campaign possible. Our ISU community will be healthier,
safer and stronger with the continued services of United Way of Story County
partner agencies," said Stan Johnson, vice provost for extension and chair
of the ISU campaign.
Countywide, United Way raised a record $974,879, 105 percent of the $925,000
goal.
Memorial Union has special poor weather room rate
During winter blizzards, faculty, staff and students can stay in the
Memorial Union for $25 a night. The special rate is in effect from December
through March (Sundays through Thursdays, and Fridays if rooms are
available). To get the rate, guests must show faculty/staff or student IDs.
For more information, call 292-1111.
AccessPlus kiosks replaced
Two older AccessPlus kiosks on campus have been replaced with new kiosks:
near the hotel registration desk in the Memorial Union and in the
information Booth on Elwood Drive, just north of South Fourth Street. The
new kiosks feature the same AccessPlus interface available on the Web, plus
quick access to Iowa State's homepage and other campus Web services. Other
improvements include faster computers, custom cabinets and large, flat-panel
LCD displays.
