W.R. Underhill

A hero

W.R. Underhill , a former faculty member in Iowa State's speech communication department, is one of the subjects of Heroes Among Us, an ISU Theatre production that opens Dec. 7 in Fisher Theater. Underhill served as a bombardier on a B-17 in World War II and was awarded two Distinguished Flying Crosses. He wears his leather flight jacket in this photo. Heroes Among Us, written by theater professors Jane Cox and Patrick Gouran, tells real-life combat experiences of World War II soldiers who now live in central Iowa. For more information about the production, see page 2. Submitted photo.
