A hero
W.R. Underhill , a former faculty member in Iowa State's speech
communication department, is one of the subjects of Heroes Among Us, an ISU
Theatre production that opens Dec. 7 in Fisher Theater. Underhill served as
a bombardier on a B-17 in World War II and was awarded two Distinguished
Flying Crosses. He wears his leather flight jacket in this photo. Heroes
Among Us, written by theater professors Jane Cox and Patrick Gouran, tells
real-life combat experiences of World War II soldiers who now live in
central Iowa.
