Estes in concert

International opera star Simon Estes, distinguished artist-in-residence at
Iowa State, will perform as a featured soloist with both the ISU Symphony
Orchestra and the ISU Wind Ensemble at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 7, in Stephens
Auditorium.
Estes and the ISU Symphony Orchestra will present an aria from the Wagner
opera, The Flying Dutchman. Estes also will perform two selections
with the ISU Wind Ensemble, including The Toreador Song from the opera
Carmen by Georges Bizet, and Come dal ciel precipta from the opera
Macbeth by Guiseppe Verdi.
Mark Laycock, assistant professor of music, directs the ISU Symphony
Orchestra. Leading the ISU Wind Ensemble will be Michael Golemo, assistant
professor of music.
General admission is $9. Tickets are available at the door, through
TicketMaster or the Iowa State Center box office, 4-3347.
