Join the College Creek cleanup July 18by Diana Pounds College Creek, which meanders through the southeast corner of central campus, needs a cleanup, and organizers are hoping you will lend a hand on July 18. Two campus groups -- ISU Live Green! and Keep Iowa State Beautiful -- are joining forces with local volunteers to remove trash and junk from the stream. The cleanup will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. What to wearIf you'd like to help, meet at the parking lot just west of the Forker Building at 1 p.m. Wear old clothes. Long pants and tennis shoes will help you navigate through weeds. You won't be required to get into the water, but those who wish to bring boots and wade in are welcome. Trash bags and gloves will be provided. What to eatVolunteer refreshments will include free sandwiches, donated by Jimmy John's, cookies and water. On central campus, College Creek extends from Lincoln Way past the Memorial Union parking ramp, Richardson Court area and the Lied Center to University Boulevard.
