More than 70 artists registered for garden art fair

by Anne Krapfl

Reiman Gardens' 7th annual Garden Art Fair July 12 will feature the work of more than 70 Midwest artists, about 25 percent more than last year's event. The fair will open with the gardens at 9 a.m., and run through 4 p.m. The gardens are open until 6 p.m. this time of year.

Admission is $5 for adults and seniors ($3 for youth ages 4 to 17). The event is free for children three years and younger, garden members and Iowa State students with identification.

Artwork at the fair is inspired by the landscape, gardening, flowers or butterflies. Art media include jewelry, pottery, paintings, clothing, photography, and yard and garden ornaments. All pieces at the fair will be for sale, and artists' booths will be set up both inside and outside.

Throughout the day, food and beverages are available for purchase, and musicians will perform. The music lineup features:

  • Anne Regnier, 9-10:30 a.m.
  • Timberline Brass, 10-11 a.m.
  • Brewer Project, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
  • Flutes & More, 2-3 p.m.
  • Johnston Station Jazz Band, 2-4 p.m.

Art fair-goers also can visit the butterfly wing and enjoy the 20 life-like dinosaurs in the "Landscape Before Time" displays.

Questions about the garden art fair may be directed to 4-2710.
