July 9, 2009 More than 70 artists registered for garden art fairby Anne Krapfl Reiman Gardens' 7th annual Garden Art Fair July 12 will feature the work of more than 70 Midwest artists, about 25 percent more than last year's event. The fair will open with the gardens at 9 a.m., and run through 4 p.m. The gardens are open until 6 p.m. this time of year. Admission is $5 for adults and seniors ($3 for youth ages 4 to 17). The event is free for children three years and younger, garden members and Iowa State students with identification. Artwork at the fair is inspired by the landscape, gardening, flowers or butterflies. Art media include jewelry, pottery, paintings, clothing, photography, and yard and garden ornaments. All pieces at the fair will be for sale, and artists' booths will be set up both inside and outside. Throughout the day, food and beverages are available for purchase, and musicians will perform.
