Campustown Court, the newest addition to the city of Ames' parks, was completed last month at the southeast corner of Welch Avenue and Chamberlain Street. While it's a city property, the project was a joint effort of the Ames City Council and mayor Ann Campbell; Iowa State administration and the Government of the Student Body, all of who contributed equally to the $75,000 cost. Parks and Recreation director Nancy Carroll called Campustown Court "a great demonstration of one community."

Members of ISU's student chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects took on the proposed park as a volunteer project in the spring of 2008 and held an internal design competition. The group presented to city officials several design proposals intended to shape a vision for the corner. The city then worked with an engineering firm to modify and/or implement the students' proposals for Campustown Court.
