An Iowa State flavorThe "River of Milk" etched glass mural is the Art in State Buildings project at the visitors center for the new ISU dairy farm south of Ames. Pictured are three of the five glass panels in Minneapolis artist Michaela Mahady's work. Mahady replicated Christian Petersen's 1934 "History of Dairying" sculpture in the Food Sciences Building for part of the etching. The piece includes a bottom marble border, into which "milk" is engraved in 27 languages to represent the international importance of the dairy industry. Behind the windows is the milking parlor.
