Jan. 16, 2009 Inauguration watch at the MUMembers of the campus community are invited to a free Inauguration Day party at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, in the MU Maintenance Shop. Watch the live broadcast on the big screen from the steps of the United States Capitol as president-elect Barack Obama and vice president-elect Joseph Biden are sworn in. Administering the oaths of office will be chief justice John Roberts and associate justice John Paul Stevens. The program is scheduled to include musical selections by John Williams, Aretha Franklin, Itzhak Perlman and Yo-Yo Ma. Other participants include Sen. Dianne Feinstein, poet Elizabeth Alexander and the reverends Rick Warren, Saddleback Church in Orange County, Calif.; and Joseph Lowery, Atlanta. Popcorn, coffee cake, fruit and nut breads, coffee, iced tea and water will be served. All are welcome. |
