Nov. 21, 2008 HonorsExcellence awardFor the fourth consecutive year, Iowa State's purchasing department has received the Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award from the National Purchasing Institute for organizational excellence in procurement. Industry magazine recognitionJames McKean, University Professor of veterinary diagnostic and production animal medicine and associate director of the Iowa Pork Industry Center, was named a Master of the pork industry by National Hog Farmer magazine. The selection recognizes his impact on the industry. Distinguished serviceJohn Mabry, professor of animal science and director of the Iowa Pork Industry Center, received the Animal Industry award from the American Society of Animal Science. The award recognizes ASAS members for their distinguished service to the animal industry. For international effortsMax Rothschild, C.F. Curtiss Distinguished Professor in Agriculture and Life Sciences, and U.S. Pig Genome coordinator, received the Bouffault International Animal Agriculture award from the American Society of Animal Science. The award recognizes ASAS members who have made meritorious scientific contributions through teaching, research or other service to animal agriculture in at least one developing area of the world over the past five years. President-electCraig Anderson, Distinguished professor of psychology and director of ISU's Center for the Study of Violence, was elected president-elect of the International Society for Research on Aggression. Anderson will serve as president-elect for two years, and then as president for two years. |
