'Road Scholar' tour loops through north central Iowa

by Diana Pounds

More than 30 new faculty and staff members will join president Gregory Geoffroy and executive vice president and provost Elizabeth Hoffman on a tour of north central Iowa Sept. 29. The "Road Scholar" tour is an ISU tradition, designed to acquaint university newcomers with Iowa's communities and people.

On the latest trip, faculty and staff will visit a farm, industry, schools and visitor attractions on a day-long bus tour. ISU Extension staff and area leaders will guide their colleagues during the tour.

This year's group will make stops at a Kamrar farm, Webster City High School and Iowa Central Community College and VeraSun Industries in Fort Dodge. They'll also take the Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad tour and meet with ISU alumni at the Snus Winery, Madrid.
