July 10, 2008 New Web site provides ISU's 'portrait'by Diana Pounds Iowa State is among colleges and universities across the country who've committed to a project that will make it easier for students, parents and others to compare institutions. "The College Portrait" project puts consistent, comparable information about each institution on the Web. Iowa State's site, which opened July 1, is available at www.admissions.iastate.edu (look for the icon in the lower right corner). Those who click into Iowa State's portrait will find a five-page PDF file with information on student characteristics, costs of attendance, degrees, student life, campus safety and much more. All institutions participating in The College Portrait provide exactly the same kinds of information on the same PDF template. Associate provost David Holger and registrar Kathleen Jones are co-chairing the committee working on Iowa State's "College Portrait." The template is compiled and hosted by the Office of Institutional Research. More information on the national project can be found at www.voluntarysystem.org. |
