Search for faculty director of Honors Program begins

An internal search for a half-time faculty director of the Honors Program is under way. The next director will succeed ISU professor Gene Takle, who has served in the interim position for more than two years. (Takle has indicated he will not be a candidate for the position.)

The position is a three-year term appointment and is open to current, tenured Iowa State faculty members. The position announcement will be posted on the Employment Opportunities web site during the week of March 10. Applications likely will be due the first week in April.

The committee seeks applications and nominations from faculty members with a strong interest in developing and sustaining educational opportunities for high ability students. Refer nominations to Karen Zunkel, kzunkel@iastate.edu, 294-4317 by March 24.

The search committee is chaired by Zunkel, director of the Program for Women in Science and Engineering. Other members of the committee are: Joan Cunnick, associate professor of animal science; Laurie Fiegel, administrative director of the Honors Program; Charles Glatz, professor of chemical and biological engineering; Stephen McKim, aerospace engineering Honors student; and Peter Orazem, University Professor of Economics.
