Cy logos are still available

by Erin Rosacker

Don't put those logo-embroidered shirts in the garage sale pile. The university's athletics logo collection introduced in 1995 (now dubbed "spirit graphics") is alive and well, coexisting with the athletics department's new "I-State" primary identity.

Originally slated for discontinuation in 2008, the spirit graphics collection of nine marks remains available for use both externally and internally.

"Fans don't need to stow their old stuff," said Leesha Zimmerman, program coordinator in the trademark licensing office. "Licensing will continue to approve the use of those marks and they'll be available in the retail market along with athletics' new identity and the university's vintage collection. We have a wide variety of logos to satisfy everyone wanting to show their Cyclone spirit and pride."

Athletics has begun the transition to its new collection of eight identity marks. Beginning next fall, Cyclone teams will be outfitted in apparel with the new primary logo, which features different shades of cardinal and gold.

University units and groups should continue to use the existing guidelines, for all university logos, to order items such as staff apparel and departmental merchandise.
