Rosenberg named to ISU federal relations post

Allison Rosenberg, a vice chancellor at University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, has been named special assistant to the president for federal relations at Iowa State University, effective Sept. 4. ISU's Office of Federal Governmental Relations is based in Washington D.C.

Since late 2002, Rosenberg has served as associate vice chancellor for research, federal affairs, at the University of North Carolina. Prior to joining UNC, she was director of research policy and development at the University of California, Office of the President.

Rosenberg previously served as director of the National Medal of Technology, the nation's highest honor for technological innovation awarded each year by the President of the United States and as associate executive director of the Government-University-Industry Research Roundtable, a science and technology policy forum co-sponsored by the National Academies of Sciences and Engineering and the Institute of Medicine.

She also was a Congressional Science Fellow of the American Academy for the Advancement of Sciences, and a professional staff member, with the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies.

Rosenberg received an A.B. in psychology from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Ph.D. in psychology from Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass.

Rosenberg succeeds ISU federal governmental relations director Jon Murphy, who in March was named director of Iowa's Office of State-Federal Relations.
