Fashion show celebrates 25 years

The calendar says it's only week nine of the semester, but the 66 students of the Fashion Show Production and Promotion course are a few short weeks from their big test: the 2007 textiles and clothing fashion show. The show is student planned, produced and promoted.

The 25th anniversary show, Reflect, will be held Saturday, March 31, in Stephens. A showcase exhibit of pieces that aren't modeled begins at 5:30 p.m. The runway show, featuring ISU student models wearing more than 100 clothing items designed and constructed by ISU students, begins at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 and available through Ticketmaster.

"The theme is 'Reflect' and is designed to look back over the past 25 years as a way to express 'This is where we've been and this is what we've become,'" said Angela Davis, one of the senior co-producers of the show.

A panel of accredited judges selects garments for the runway portion of the show and chooses winners in each of five categories: evening wear, casual wear, accessories, experimental (non-traditional and recycled materials) and themed collection (three pieces). Entries from the additional categories of children's wear, historical costume and contemporary, in addition to students' portfolios, will be on display prior to the runway show.

Also featured at the show will be the work of Katherine Noyes, a 1998 ISU fashion design alumna. Noyes lives in San Francisco, where she works for an interiors showroom and designs for her own women's clothing label.
