WOI membership drive starts Oct. 13

WOI Radio's fall fund drive kicks off Oct. 13 and runs through Oct. 20. More than half of all listener contributions to WOI stations are made during eight-day fund drives in the spring and fall.

"Our first day will be a repeat of last spring's 'shortest day ever,'" said Karen Bolluyt, membership director. "We asked listeners to pledge a day's worth of gifts in three hours, and promised that we would, in turn, provide regular programming for the rest of the day."

She noted that listeners showed they liked the shortened day by pledging more than the goal set for the three hours.

During most of the drive, volunteers will answer 10 phones in a small conference room on the second floor of the Communications Building. For the shortened first day, 17 phones will be installed. There are nearly 250 volunteer slots to fill during each drive.

Approximately 9,000 members/households support public radio programming on WOI stations. Their gifts provide more than half of WOI's annual operating budget. Current members can renew by mail or make their contributions during the drive. Gifts also can be pledged online at http:/www.woi.org.
