Study Abroad Fair

The Study Abroad Center's annual Study Abroad Fair will be held Thursday, Sept. 14, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Memorial Union Great Hall. It will feature both ISU and non-ISU programs about study, work or volunteer abroad opportunities. United Way Fair

The United Way will hold a weekend of events at Reiman Gardens:

Friday, Sept. 15, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Tour booths of the United Way of Story County Human Services agencies. Free admission for ISU faculty and staff and UWSC partner agency staff, clients and volunteers. Partner agencies will provide information about their programs and services.

Saturday, Sept. 16, 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Admissions will be donated to United Way.

Enhancements to Policy Library

The Policy Library (http://policy.iastate.edu) is a long-term project gathering all university-level policies into one Web site to ensure the information is current, reliable and accessible. It also outlines the steps involved in developing new policies or revising existing policies. The Policy Library has been newly organized to make policies easier to locate and the search feature more helpful.

Memorial 5K race

The Dairy Science Club's annual Alison Ciancio Memorial 5K Race is Saturday, Sept. 23, at 9 a.m. at the ISU Cross Country Course. Cost is $20. Proceeds go to scholarships for dairy science students. Ciancio is a former student who was killed in a 2002 vehicle accident. Register online at http://www.ans.iastate.edu.

Honors seminar proposals sought

The University Honors Program committee is accepting proposals for spring semester Honors seminars through Sept. 20. Honors seminars are open only to Honors students and examine topics of current or special interest. Instructor(s) of each seminar receive $500 for their own professional development. Women's enrichment mini-grant proposals

Proposals for 2006-07 mini-grants from the Women's Enrichment Fund are due by 5 p.m. Oct. 13, in the provost's office, 1550 Beardshear. This year, $25,000 is available for mini-grants; the maximum amount that may be requested is $5,000. The Women's Enrichment Fund supports initiatives that enhance the experiences of women faculty, staff and students. Death

Deb Muenchrath

Deb Muenchrath, assistant professor of agronomy, died July 10 of ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). Colleagues and friends will remember her during an informal memorial at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, in the Agronomy Hall courtyard (in case of rain, Agronomy second-floor commons). Economists on WOI's "Talk"

Economists John Miranowski and Bob Wisner will join President Gregory Geoffroy on WOI Radio's Talk of Iowa show Tuesday, Sept. 12. The call-in program airs live from 9 to 10 a.m. on 640 AM.
