New faces, duties in provost office

The departure in June of former provost Ben Allen to the University of
Northern Iowa, the elimination of the budget planning/analysis position in
the president's office and the transfer of budget oversight to the provost's
office this summer created several changes in personnel and duties within
the Office of the Provost. Some are temporary, some are permanent. Here's a
quick look at new or changed assignments:
1550 Beardshear
- Susan Carlson, interim vice president for academic affairs and
provost, 4-0070
- Eric Hoiberg, interim associate provost for faculty advancement and
diversity, 4-9556 (a 3/4-time appointment)
- Ellen Rasmussen, associate vice president for budget and planning
(since July 1), focuses on institutional budget development and capital
planning, and budget model development, 4-0831
- Claire Andreasen (chair of veterinary pathology), special assistant
to the provost, focuses on faculty mentoring and recruitment, 4-9350
(1/4-time appointment for fall semester only)
- Melanie Smith, program coordinator, focuses on dual-career
opportunity program for faculty and faculty recruitment and diversity, 4-6519 (new, permanent P&S position since July
1)
- Brenda Behling, program coordinator, increased role in P&S
policy since July 1, 4-8236
2550 Beardshear
- David Biedenbach, program manager, focuses on budget development and
planning, implementation and refinement of new budget model, 4-7829 (new,
permanent P&S position since Aug. 21)
- Darin Wohlgemuth, program manager in Enrollment Services, focuses on
budget model development, 4-3592 (one-year, half-time appointment in
provost's office since July 1)
- Melinda Thach, communications specialist, focuses on budget model
education and communications, 4-9350 (half-time, P&S position for one
year)
- Siti Sabtu-Schaper, administrative specialist for the budget team,
4-7845 (new, permanent P&S position)
