Position at ISU: professor of architecture and associate chair for undergraduate programs in the department of architecture Gregory Palermo Arrived at Iowa State: January 1992 as a part-time adjunct associate professor, joining the full-time ranks in 1993 and earning a tenure track position in 1995 Previous service on the senate: Senator (1997-2000, 2000-02, 2003-06), Executive Board member (1998-2002, 2003-05), Administrative Committee (2003-06), president-elect (2005-06). Service on senate groups: Academic Affairs Council member (1997-98) and chair (2003-06), Faculty Development and Administrative Relations Council chair (2001-02), Strategic Planning Committee (1999-2000), Curriculum Committee (1997-99, 2002-03), task force for final promotion and tenure document text with provost office (1998). Senate's top goals this year:
Issue that has the potential to be the most important to the senate this year: "I would say, certainly our review of the new budget model. In particular, aspects related to the role of the Faculty Senate and the faculty in shared governance." Thoughts on the year ahead: "I'm upbeat about Iowa State and I'm upbeat about Iowa State's prospects. To have the opportunity to serve the faculty and to help shape policies that advance the university's educational missions and its overall strategic missions, wherever we are involved. Those are the things that are exciting in Senate work and in the work of our various committees." |
