Faculty facilitators neededFaculty members are sought to lead a "Your Passport to Success" session for new students Aug. 18 or 19 during Destination Iowa State. Geoffroy, Pollard on Talk of IowaPresident Gregory Geoffroy and athletics director Jamie Pollard will be guests on the Tuesday, Aug. 22, installment of Talk of Iowa on WOI Radio. The live, call-in program airs from 9 to 10 a.m. on 640 AM. New graduate student orientationA "come and go" orientation for new graduate students Aug. 18 (9-11:30 a.m., 1137 Pearson) will offer information about various student services, refreshments and door prizes. United Way incentivesISU faculty and staff who contribute to this year's United Way campaign will receive a Cyclone lapel pin and four free tickets to the ISU-Minnesota women's basketball game Dec. 9. Autographed footballs and men's basketball tickets will be used as incentives in each campus unit as well. The 2006 United Way campaign begins Sept. 1. Fanfest is Aug. 20The athletics department will hold its first Cyclone "Fanfest" from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, in the Bergstrom Indoor Practice Facility (northwest of the football stadium). The free, family event will feature coaches, student-athletes and skill challenges from all 18 sports teams, photos with Cy and the spirit squads, inflatable games and contests, and an autograph session with members of the football squad. Concessions will be sold. Study leadership this yearThe 12+ Supervisory Leadership Series is about to start, and there still is room for about 10 participants. Students will be able to view the Job Board beginning Aug. 16. Go to "Student Employment" under the "UBusiness" tab to enter your open positions. Communication trainingThe Office of Learning and Development is offering a communication training class, "Become a Master Communicator." This class will help attendees learn their communication style and gain an understanding of styles unlike their own. Each of the three sessions (once a month September-November) is free but attendance is limited. Register using AccessPlus (click on "HRS Training" and then "Courses.") Memorial Union poster sale starts Aug. 21The Memorial Union's annual art and print poster sale runs Aug. 21 to Sept. 21. Items will be for sale in the Cardinal Room from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The prints range from $8-12. For more information, contact Letitia Kenemer (4-0971). Sample the Arts Aug. 27The Iowa State Center will host its second annual "Sample the Arts at Stephens" from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, in Stephens Auditorium. More than 20 local performing arts organizations will have exhibits and many will offer live performances during the afternoon. This family event is free and open to the public.
