Fourth of July at the Farm House

University Museums will host an old-fashioned Fourth of July celebration at the Farm House Museum on central campus from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 4. Festivities include games, crafts, patriotic tattoos, tours of the historic Farm House, and music and dance performances by the Onion Creek Cloggers. Hot dogs, popcorn and lemonade will be available for purchase. Parking that day is available on campus lots except where restrictions apply (note Special Olympics parking restrictions above).

Lincoln Way resurfacing begins July 10

The City of Ames has contracted for asphalt resurfacing on Lincoln Way, from Beach Avenue to Hayward Avenue, between July 10 and Aug. 11. On Monday, July 10, the eastbound lanes of Lincoln Way will be closed and two-way traffic set up in the westbound lanes. This pattern will continue for approximately two weeks and then be reversed (westbound lanes closed with two-way traffic in the eastbound lanes).

From July 10 to approximately July 25, access to and from the south will be closed at Gray, Ash, Lynn, Stanton, Welch and Hayward avenues. Beach and Sheldon avenues will be the access corridors to campustown.

During the westbound lane closure (approximately July 26-Aug. 11), access to and from the north will be closed at Union Drive and Lynn and Welch avenues. Beach and Sheldon avenues will be the access routes to campus.

Information about alternate CyRide routes and boarding locations during construction is available from CyRide, 239-5560.

Road, lot closures for national games

Iowa State will be the site for the first Special Olympics National Games July 2-7. Beach Road from Lincoln Way north to the south entrance to the General Services Building will be closed on Monday (July 3), Wednesday (5), Thursday (6) and Friday (7) from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., and from 7 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4.

Parking lots affected all week will be Lots 3, 7, 50A, 57, 59A, 60, 63 and 100 and all lots in the older section of the Richardson Court neighborhood. The lots will be used primarily for Special Olympics visitors, although 24 hour-reserve permit holders in these lots will be allowed in. General staff and reserve permit holders will be asked to use other lots. Lot 3 will be closed at the Bissell Road end; use the Sheldon entrance.
