June 8, 2006 On the street with InsideQ: What do you like to take advantage of on campus during the less crowded summer months?"First of all, I like campus with students. I miss the vitality of the campus during the summer. Having said that, I don't ride my motorcycle when school is in session, so I wait for summer. I also like to use the rec center, as it is less crowded during summer. And, if I have time, I stroll around the beautiful campus grounds." Mufit Akinc Professor and chair, materials science and engineering "Two things come to mind. I like to sit out on the MacKay steps and eat my lunch. And, last Saturday, we had our four-year-old grandson on campus and let him learn how to ride his bike. The sidewalks are safe when nobody's on them." Bev Kruempel Adjunct assistant professor, family and consumer sciences education and studies "The dining services, like on Union Drive and at Hawthorn Café. I tend to visit those more when the students aren't around." Steve Weigel Assistant manager, Printing Services "In the summertime, I do more walking around on campus, just for the exercise and enjoyment. I don't mind running errands, so I can get out and enjoy the sunshine, and the beauty of the campus. This campus is absolutely beautiful, with many trees, some of which are flowering trees, and flowers that bloom throughout the summer. I also enjoy the wildlife on campus."
