Honors

Association fellow

Catherine Kling, professor of economics, has been named a fellow of the American Agricultural Economics Association, the highest professional honor awarded in the association. Fellowship recognizes continuous contribution to the advancement of ag economics.

Educator of the year

Materials science and engineering professory Larry Genalo recently was named Educator of the Year by the Technology Association of Iowa.

Excellence as a graduate faculty

John Schuh, Distinguished professor in educational leadership and policy studies, recently received the Robert H. Shaffer Award for Academic Excellence as a Graduate Faculty Member from the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA). The award recognizes a tenured faculty member who teaches full time in a graduate preparation program in student affairs. Schuh also received the Outstanding Contribution to Student Affairs through Teaching Award from NASPA Region IV-East last fall.

Student affairs award

Mimi Benjamin, assistant to the vice president for student affairs, recently received the Mid-Level Student Affairs Professional Award from the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA). The award recognizes professionals who contribute to programs that address student needs and promote student learning and personal development. Benjamin received an award of the same name from NASPA's Region IV-East last fall.

APPA fellow

Chris Ahoy, associate vice president for facilities, has been named a fellow by the Association of Higher Education Facilities Officers. Ahoy is president-elect of the association.

Distance education award

The Master of Science in Agronomy distance education program has received the 2006 Innovator's Award from the Iowa Distance Learning Association, a non-profit group that promotes the development and application of distance learning and training. The master's program is accessible through the Internet and CD-ROM.
