June 8, 2006 Dispose of non-paper confidential records this summerby Anne Krapfl With the adoption of the Social Security Number protection policy, ISU departments are disposing of confidential records that aren't needed. Facilities Planning and Management launched a campus-wide confidential paper destruction service in 2004. The need to dispose of confidential non-paper media also exists. To meet this need, FPM will station a large and locked container on the General Services Building dock for the disposal of confidential, non-paper media, at no cost to campus units, from July 12 through Aug. 7. Acceptable media for disposal include: diskettes, CDs, DVDs, Super disks, Zip disks, various tape formats, 9-track reels and microfiche. Employees and work groups are encouraged to review what they have and dispose of what they can in the confidential container. Because the bin will be kept locked, you'll need to contact Kelly McCool, 4-1396, to arrange a time to dispose of your items. More information on the service is online at the FPM Web site, http://www.fpm.iastate.edu/forms/confidential_pickup/. |
