Campus planning session is June 15

The city of Ames and ISU are working with a consulting group to develop a plan for community preparedness during a potentially tragic event. You can help develop the All-Hazard Mitigation Plan for Ames by attending a campus input session from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, June 15, in 1414 Molecular Biology. Help answer questions such as: What are the critical resources in Ames we need to protect? How do we secure and protect them?

Chemistry Stores closed June 12-13

Chemistry Stores in Gilman Hall will close for inventory Monday, June 12, and Tuesday, June 13. Dry ice and liquid nitrogen will be available from 9:30 to 10 a.m. and 12:30 to 1 p.m. each day.

Nomination deadline is June 15

The Awards Committee of the P&S Council seeks nominations for a one-time "Best Recognition/Awards Program" award. Unit and college award or recognition programs that recognize P&S employees are eligible. The intent is to honor one awards program, but also to share the best practices on campus for recognizing exemplary job performance during a forum early in the fall semester. Nominations are due June 15; an award recipient will be announced in August. The nomination form is online at the council's Web site, http://www.pscouncil.iastate.edu/Awards.html. Media lab moving to library

The Media Lab, currently located in 139 Durham Center, is moving to Parks Library this week. It will be in the reference area (first floor) of the library. The lab gives students access to media equipment for creating VHS tapes, DVDs, animation, online movies and more.

SSN protection policy Web site

The adoption of the Social Security Number (SSN) Protection Policy on Oct. 14, 2005, marked the beginning of a transition from using the SSN to the University ID whenever possible. With an implementation deadline of June 30, 2007, the work will continue in earnest throughout fiscal year 2007. To help the university community in this task, the SSN Protection Policy Implementation http://www.ssn.committee.iastate.edu Web site has been developed. The site provides quick access to the policy, procedures, FAQs, guidance and tools, as well as a forum for discussion among members of the SSN Policy Network.

Evergreens for sale at gardens

Reiman Gardens will sell evergreen plants from past displays, including junipers, arborvitae, boxwoods and spiral junipers from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 10, in the gardens' maintenance building.
