Artists, scientists team up for art

The College of Design and the Center for Excellence in the Arts and Humanities, with Ames' Octagon Center for the Arts, are co-sponsors of an exhibition, "Breaking the Creative Barriers: The Arts and Sciences in Collaboration," April 4-16 at the Octagon, 427 Douglas Ave.

The exhibit will feature collaborative work by artist-scientist teams from Iowa State. It will incorporate posters designed by ISU graphic design students that provide an overview of the interdisciplinary collaborations, including the scientific research informing the art. The resulting pieces or collections of artwork, as well as works in progress, also will be on display.

An opening reception will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 4. It is open to the public.

Regular gallery hours at the Octagon are 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, and 2-5 p.m. Sunday.
