New Web page acquaints potential Iowans with the state

by Diana Pounds

Two new Web pages promoting Iowa and Ames will be useful to those who recruit faculty and staff to Iowa State.

"These pages give people who are unfamiliar with Iowa an introduction to the state and its high quality of life," said Tahira Hira, assistant to the president for external relations and executive administration.

"New faculty and staff sometimes comment that they weren't aware that Iowa was such a great place to develop a career and raise a family," Hira said. "The new pages provide a glimpse of Ames and Iowa living and link to more detailed information on the Iowa Department of Economic Development's vibrant iowalifechanging.com site."

The pages also include national rankings about the city and state, Hira said. "For example, Ames has been ranked the second most liveable small city in the nation and Iowa was named the fourth best place to raise children."

Staff from the Iowa Department of Economic Development, the city of Ames and the Ames Chamber of Commerce helped Iowa State officials develop the Web pages.
