A Christmas Carol opens Dec. 1

by Dave Gieseke, LAS Public Relations

An adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic story of miserly Ebenezer Scrooge will be performed by ISU Theatre next month in Fisher Theater.

A Christmas Carol will be performed Dec. 1-3 and 9-10 at 7:30 p.m. Matinee performances on Sunday, Dec. 4 and 11, begin at 2 p.m.

Adapted by ISU Theatre director Jane Cox, A Christmas Carol is the story of Mr. Scrooge, who is brought to redemption by his nephew, Fred, and an employee, Bob Cratchit and his family.

"Many people think, 'I've seen this before. Why should I go again?'" Cox said. "As a person who has seen it at least 25 times, I can honestly say that anyone can still learn something from A Christmas Carol. It's a story of redemption and how human beings can change. It's about the importance of family and how our memories encourage us to care for our fellow human beings.

"We all know how important these are, but we have to be reminded every now and then," she added.

Tickets are $13 (adults) and available from TicketMaster.
