October 21, 2005 Senate OKs name changeby Dan Kuester On an almost unanimous voice vote, the Faulty Senate Oct. 18 recommended that the name of the department of foreign languages and literatures be changed to the department of world languages and cultures. The change met with criticism in September from several senators, including senators from anthropology who said the new name encroached on their academic area. Representatives from the two departments met over the last month to hammer things out, and there were only two no votes on the proposal. It will be forwarded to the provost.
