Groundbreaking for alumni center is Oct. 22

by Jason Menke, ISU Foundation

The ISU Alumni Association invites the public to the ground breaking of its alumni center on Saturday, Oct. 22. The ceremony will take place during the association's homecoming tailgate, three hours prior to kickoff on the building site south of Stephens Auditorium.

Funded entirely through private support from ISU friends and alumni, the alumni center will accommodate all the association's staff and programs. It will be approximately 30,000 gross square feet and include a visitors' lounge, library, banquet hall, offices, meeting rooms, and a multipurpose office and activity space.

Construction will last about 18 months and begin after all design and pre-construction processes have been approved. The targeted completion date is middle to late 2007.

Those attending the ceremony also may join the alumni association's tailgating festivities. The tailgate package, which includes a game ticket and meal, is $38 for association members and $43 for non-members (tailgate only is $10 for members and $15 for others). Contact Beth Lott, 4-4557, by Oct. 7 for reservations.
