Corly Brooke teaching class

It's a gem

Corly Brooke (standing), professor of human development and family studies, is among the faculty teaching this fall in the new LeBaron auditorium. The 363-seat classroom replaces a 214-seat auditorium and features many state-of-the-art learning tools: chairs tiered in rows of two in which all "front" row chairs swivel to create small discussion settings, large projection screen and two video projectors, digital document camera for projecting flat media on the screen, DVD and VHS players, large white board, two wireless microphones, zoned lighting and a receiver for the student response system (i.e. "clickers").

Brooke said the room's width has resulted in students gravitating toward the front rows, instead of "hiding" in the back rows. With doors on three tiers, in and out also goes quickly, she said.

"It's very exciting for us that the College of Human Sciences has the gem on campus right now," she said.
