June 22, 2005 McGuire is interim dean of students; national search to beginby Anne Krapfl Sharon McGuire, assistant dean of students and director of the Academic Success Center, has been named interim dean of students, effective July 1. Dean of students Pete Englin will become director of the department of residence on that date. Vice president for student affairs Tom Hill said a national search will begin immediately to fill the dean of students position. Todd Holcomb, associate vice president for student affairs, will chair that search committee, whose members will include students, staff, faculty and community members. Hill said the goal is to select a new dean of students sometime in the fall semester, with the new dean starting as soon as possible after the selection is made. McGuire has directed ISU's Academic Success Center since 1999. Previously, she worked at Radford University (Virginia), as director of student support services and, later, retention programs coordinator. She also spent five years at Pacific Lutheran University, Tacoma, Wash., in several student affairs positions. |
